How can I get LIFE?
These are our convictions based on Scripture as to how to experience God’s LIFE (God’s plan for our salvation):

1. Understand the Almighty and Triune God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life – abundant and eternal life! (See Romans 5:1; John 3:16; John 10:10)
                  
2. However, human beings have chosen to go our own way and live lives without God. This is called SIN. Sin separates us from God and leads us to death.  (Isaiah 59:2; Proverbs 14:12; Romans 3:23; 6:23)

3. Because nothing that we do can bridge the gap between us and God, God sent his Son, Jesus Christ. It was through his death on the cross and his resurrection that we can now have our sins forgiven, have a relationship with God, and have eternal life with him in heaven.  (I Timothy 2:5; I Peter 3:18; Romans 5:8)

Beliefs, Vision and Values
ALC Statement of Faith:
The members of the Abundant LIFE Community Baptist Church believe in the everlasting, omnipresent, all-knowing, Triune God.  We believe that the Godhead alone created the Heavens and the Earth and every good thing around us.  We believe God loves His creation even when we are in a weakened state.  We believe that all humanity is sinful regardless of status or station and this sin separates us from right fellowship with our holy God.  We believe the Scriptures teach that the consequence of sin is death (spiritual and physical).

However, we rejoice because we believe that God’s own love has compelled Him to send His only begotten Son—Jesus, to die in our place and restore our relationship with the Father.  We believe we enter into relationship with God through a confessing belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.  We believe the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God which gives to us God’s law, will, promises and plan.

ALC Vision Statement:
The vision of the Abundant Life Community Baptist Church is to commit whole-heartedly to the commission and cause of Jesus our Christ.  We envision a church that expresses the love, compassion and joy of Jesus through sharing the gospel, edifying believers, sacrificial worship, loving our family and community and reaching out to pre-Christians.  We envision making a constant effort to grow and nurture believers, encourage and support strong Christian families and serve as an extension of God to this community in teaching, giving, loving, etc...  We purpose to spread the Word that our God is Awesome and gracious, Jesus Christ the Son died for the redemption of believers and the Holy Spirit dwells within us to encourage, guide, restrain and edify.  We envision a ministry that embraces the scarred, “un-churched”, and broken.  We commit to pursuing this vision until the Lord Himself comes to receive us.  Til then, we invest fully in this ministry where BETTER life in CHRIST begins and we’re livin’ it UP!

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to preach the possibilities of Abundant LIFE, to prove the power of agape LOVE and to praise and promote our awesome LORD ---Jesus the Christ. 

Church Objectives:

1. To PREACH and TEACH the Scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to evangelize, educate and edify.
2. The EVANGELISM and active soul-seeking of those outside the family of faith
3. Providing relevant MINISTRY and RESOURCES to college students and young – middle aged adults
4. To CREATE a fresh, exciting and real atmosphere for (young) families and individuals to fellowship, develop and prepare to evangelize.
5. To EDUCATE, EMPOWER and ENCOURAGE children and youth
6. Providing SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP and PRESENCE in the community and in community affairs. (geographical and ethnical community)
7. Creating an atmosphere of LOVE within our church family and to those outside our church membership.
8. The development of strong, CHRISTIAN FAMILY structures.
9. Holistic MINISTRY to the mind, body and soul of the people of God.

-Community Outreach (children’s programs, attention to needs of the less fortunate, ministry to single parents, support of schools, focus on urban youth and young adults)
-Family (focus on building stronger marriages, assistance for single parents, parent-child communications, etc…)
-The Word (our commitment is to preaching and teaching the uncompromised, but relevant Word of God to draw potential believers and edify the saints)
-Worship(relevant and contemporary worship designed to connect this generation to the power of God)
- Discipleship (our commitment to developing and maturing believers’ in the Word of God and preparing/equipping them to go out into the world and make more disciples.
-Self Improvement/Empowerment (we are committed to holistic ministry that encourages, educates and equips people of faith to operate and succeed in the world around them living in God’s abundance and victory in every day life.)

What should I expect?

Welcome –When you come to ALC, expect to be received with the love of Christ and warmth that is becoming of the family of faith.  We will do everything possible to make your visit a comfortable one and help you to access any necessary info, answers, etc…  Even before you get here, know you are welcome!

Worship – We place a great deal of emphasis on worship.  We believe worship is the privilege of God’s creatures to encounter their Creator.  Much thought and preparation has gone into our worship services hoping that it will minister to, uplift and encourage YOU!  Our worship includes: anointed praise and worship music, a powerful and relevant Word from God and an atmosphere of love and fellowship.  Our worship experiences will not exceed an hour and a half.

What to wear – ALC tries to sensitively merge the richness of tradition with the effectiveness of contemporary ministry.  With this in mind, our worshipers come dressed in every manner from suits to jeans and t-shirts.  We are not concerned about the clothes only about the soul.  The first Sunday of every month has been designated as “Formal First Sunday” and we usually dress up as a part of this experience, but there are no obligations.  Every other Sunday, we are pretty casual from the Pulpit to the back door.
